How did the project start?

I wanted to have a place on the internet to post previously-published short stories and had a small version of this as part of another website. After having my first book, a collection of short stories entitled 'Dial M for Monkey' published by Tonto Books I felt that I should create my own site to enable me to expand the site further and to showcase the book.

What options did you consider?

When designing and building the site I wanted it to offer visitors something that no other author's website did whilst at the same time looking as good as possible. Writing short-short stories seems to appeal to net users' attention span and it was a fairly logical progression to offer a podcast of me reading the stories. To offer both of these for free is something I think most mainstream authors have not done yet.

What help and expertise did you receive?

I designed and built the website myself but received encouragement, help and constructive criticism from friends and colleagues.

Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?

There were many challenges, not least of which was creating and programming the podcast section of the site which can now be found on iTunes (and many other places too).

What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?

I now have a website I think reflects my writing well, is well organised and attracts thousands of visitors. I have had excellent feedback about the site and visitor number and podcast subscribers increase every month.

What are your plans for the future?

Now that the site is built my main aim is to just keep writing and fill it with as much content as possible. If new technologies come along which I think I can take advantage of then I may add them to the site too.
