Dates: Jan 2007 to Dec 2008
How did the project start?
The Quickrelease.tv podcast started life as 'Cycling: news and views', audio and video content grabbed while doing stories for BikeBiz.com and other publications. Quickrelease (sort of) refers to the speed of info dissemination but it's mainly a way of fixing a wheel to a bicycle. The podcast is all about bikes.
What options did you consider?
A variety of podcasting hosting solutions. I plumped for Libsyn because of no bandwidth issues.
What help and expertise did you receive?
Pedalling podcasters in US helped a lot.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
Challenge was to boost listeners and viewers from zero. My top video on YouTube has had 60,000 viewers, with about a tenth of this number grabbing the higher res vodcast via iTunes and other podcast sites.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
It's hard to make a podcast make money. Getting videos sponsored by clients is best way I've found to make this business pay.
What are your plans for the future?
Resist podfade.
