How did the project start?
The North East Chamber of Commerce (NEEC) is a cutting edge independent membership organisation representing the interests of over 4,500 North East businesses on a regional, national and international level.
We chose Indigo Multimedia to develop our existing website as it no longer met the growing needs of the organisation. We needed a robust content management system to allow multiple internal users to update information easily. The Indigo team provided us with a bespoke system that meets the requirements of all departments. As a result we have found the site is more marketing led now, as opposed to an IT issue.
What options did you consider?
We did consider keeping the development in-house, but realised that we needed the technical expertise and input of Indigo to help us turn the project around within our tight deadlines. They helped us refresh the look and feel of the site and built a highly functional CMS, which allows us to keep the content relevant and gives staff easy access and control to manage specific site areas.
What help and expertise did you receive?
We relied on the expertise of Indigo to help us make informed decisions about the development of the site. They were great at translating our ideas and making the project work within tight timescales. We also involved all departments at the NEEC to tell us the funcuntionality they needed from the web development.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
For us it was important to keep the look and feel of the site in line with the expectations of our members, they demand high quality service and access to our huge range of services. We provide a comprehensive range of business services, products and expert training to help businesses realise their potential.
The site development would have been extremely challenging but for the input of Indigo, they ensured the smooth transfer of huge amounts of data, as well as delivering a very functional, clean site that clearly reflects the quality of our service.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
With Indigo’s expertise we can communicate easily with our external customers and internally all NECC departments have control over specific content areas on the site, and this has had a huge impact on our effectiveness. It allows us to be very responsive and get information out to members quickly.
Internally it has improved inter-departmental communication and allowed us to focus on the marketing potential our online presence gives us.
What are your plans for the future?
We are working with Indigo to develop the eCommerce side of the site, for us it represents a huge opportunity. It also reflects our commitment to provide members and stakeholders with a quality service. Once the eCommerce functionality is fully developed, it will be easier than ever for the North East business community to access our services and products.
