How did the project start?

I merged two sites together "thebestofmorpeth" and "thebestofhexam" - using their events and then adding events covering all of Northumberland

What options did you consider?

Running as thebestof individual towns within Northumberland, but the overall "Northumberland" image is very strong and it gives my clients a stronger marketing proposition, and provides tourists and residents with all Northumberland events in one place.

What help and expertise did you receive?

The franchisor automatically combined existing events from the Morpeth and Hexham sites.

Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?

The sheer number of events - need to judge the most interesting.

What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?

The site is now the best site for events in Northumberland, with organisations emailing me with requests to be included.
It is also attracting visitors to the site, increasing the exposure of businesses on the site, and the desire for prospective clients to join thebestofnorthumberland.

What are your plans for the future?

1. In the short-term to increase coverage of events even further.
2. Investigating splitting the events by category - childrens' events, tourist events, business events, etc.
3. In the medium-term, outsource the effort of maintaining the events.
